Winter School on Strategic Management of Women's Entrepreneurship Association - at GRT Temple Bay, Mahabalipuram, on 22nd to 28th Nov. 2009

CHANCE: Chamber and Advisory Network and Cooperation for Women Entrepreneurs. Training, Dialogue and Networking for Business Intermediaries in the SADC and SAARC Regions- a project of InWEnt with partners from South Asia and Southern Africa

The CHANCE Winter School is InWEnt’s top range development program for Business Women Associations middle and senior management. It offered a 5 day intensive training and networking in an informal and stimulating environment.

The Winter School is organised around a series of core courses for all participants on broad issues faced by Business Women Associations and other business organisations, and optional courses, which reflect specific interests and needs within the Business Women Associations network.

The program was targeted specifically to the Business Women Associations and other business organisations in the region and tailored to the specific environment of the SAARC and SADC regions.

The program was primarily targeted at business organisations from the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka from the SAARC region and Angola Botswana Lesotho Malawi Mozambique South Africa, Swaziland Tanzania Zambia Zimbabwe from the SADC region

The training program was designed to offer a well-rounded education in Business Women Associations management. The courses were designed to address the felt needs of Business Women’s organizations in both the SAARC and SADC regions.

The learning experience was structured in two levels – core courses dealt with strategic management issues common to all participants and optional courses that enabled participants to tailor the experience to suit the needs of their organization. Throughout the program each participant shared their activities against those of around 20 other business organisations. A great deal of knowledge was gained to maximise organisation’s performance that in turn will benefit business women in the regions

To widen the network Special emphasis was put on developing interpersonal relationships between the various participants. Additional events were organised both at the centre and in the surrounding area to ensure useful and beneficial contacts for the future. Every participant left Winter School with a wide range of personal contacts in Business Women Associations and other business organisations throughout the SAARC and SADC regions, and in a better position to maximise future opportunities jointly.
